This is an attempt at a text Walk-through. It should help you with learning to use the TMS system.

TMS Tournament Management System TD Walk-Through

Here we go :) 

There are "CLASS"es of users on the site, I will explain the  main classes of users.

• GUEST - irrelevant - Just visiting
• NON-MEMBER -Someone who PLays in the tournaments, but has yet to sign up for the site. 
• MEMBER - A signed-up user of the site

Now the special ones;

• RULER - Make/Edit/Delete the rules
• FORMATTER - Make/Edit/Delete the Formats
• SCHEDULER - Make/Edit/Delete ALL Schedules, so be careful not to delete others.
• TD - Why I made this system :)

You are Probably NOT ADMIN or MODERATORS, which are the other classes.

Rules now have buttons for TD's, so just click to copy to your clipboard and paste :)

• FORMATS

Same for formats - TD's can CLick and Paste.

• SCHEDULER - Manage Time Slots
• ****************************

We should set up a Time Slot first, to show WHEN you will be a TD for a Tournament!

1. CREATE TIME SLOT  - Do THIS first, then you will EDIT it.
2. Now Select from "EXISTING TIME SLOT". 
3. BEFORE doing ANYTHING, see if YOUR TD Name is in the dropdown List. Id it is not RESET TD LIST Until it is. 
4. SELECT the TD's name - and use REPEAT ALL if they will do it every day at that time. 
5. Select FORMAT for ALL, or each individual Day in not doing it for the full week. 

1. Go look at how it shows in Daily Schedule
2. Go see how you can edit individual days in "MANAGE SCHEDULE"
3. Back at "MANAGE TIME SLOTS" make more changes if you want.
4. Keep ONE Time Slot, but DELETE any Extra's TIME SLOTS you made. Thank You!

• Manage Postage
• ****************************

1. Let's make a "Welcome" Postage
2. Click "MAKE POSTAGE"
3. Give it a number for the Order. So, start with `1`
4. Let's Make the POSTAGE NAME "Welcome"
5. In the "BEFORE POST", put "Welcome"  - That's it for now.
6. SAVE IT
7. Now, look to the right and you will see the WELCOME, with #1 and a "B"
8. IF you CLICK "Welcome" it what it holds is copied tou your Clipboard. So now you can "Paste" it with CTL-V. 

NOW, lets edit Welcome. 

1. Grab YOUR Welcome postage and click EDIT
2. In the AFTER POST add "Thank you for Joining Us!" and save.

Now you should see the 1 and BA Because there is a BEFORE and an AFTER. 

NOW, Grab a Name BEFORE You Click on "WELCOME"

If You Grabbed the name "DYLAN", and you paste it, you should see it paste - Welcome Dylan Thank You For Joining US!

You can add as many "POSTAGES" as you want, there are ALL YOURS, No other TD has access to yours. 

You can make Just a BEFORE and not have any Names or Just an AFTER.  It's Up to you. 

You can use this as an alternative to things like AutoHotKeys, or ShortKeys. Or as a Compliment to them.

• JUST SUBMIT RESULTS
• ****************************

This NEW version on TMS should make it easier to use with Pulldowns. LESS chance of getting the Nicknames wrong. 

 This is important because in the past, points went to ImAPLAYA or imaplaya or IMAplaya . Having ONE Nick to pick will help. 

Here's how a "PLAYAS" nick works;

 IF they register on the site, then great, their nick will be in dropdown.

- If there nick does not show yet, press the Reset PLayers list until it does. 

 If their nick is NOT in the list after you refresh it 2or3 times, then;

1.  Either they didn't register on site with their game nick and haven't added it to their GAME SITE NAME entry in their profile.
2. They haven't registered yet.

In that case, you need to add them as a NON-MEMBER - Someone who PLAYS in the tourneys, but is not registered on our site.

• Quick Add Non-Member
• ****************************

You can add a NON-MEMBER that played in the Tournament but is not registered using  the "Quick Add Non-Member" menu.

You MUST enter their game nick ~~~~EXACTLY~~~~~  as they have it at the GAME SITE.

 It is a pain, but not impossible to fix after, so please DOUBLE_CHECK the NICK to be sure it matches.

Now you should be able to reset the PLayer list (a few times) and see the name  there now so you can finish submitting.

NOTE: To get to the NAME you want FAST, just type the FIRST LETTER in the dropdown, and KEEP PRESSING IT until you get to the name you want.

 In the Dropdown, Names starting with CAPS are up top, lower case after them.

• FINISHING SUBMIT RESULTS

Once you get through that, AND if you are the latest T submitted, you should see the Winner appear in the Congratulations Menu.

You should also see them like usual, in Tourney Results and PLaya Points.

You may also notice an image of a spade. Some may choose an Avatar (Flag) and that will show it the spades place.

 To PICK an AVATAR, Teach them to go into their MEMBER PROFILE and select one :)

FUTURE

• FUTURE:ANY NON-MEMBER will have an ASTERISK (*) until they register with their game nick
• OR until they add it to the GAME SITE NAME Field if they registered with a nick NOT their game nick.
•  You should be able to see it first time you use a dropdown. It should be fairly easy to use once we get going. 
• Hopefully they will HATE seeing the * and register. It will just make our TD lives easier.

• RUN FULL TOURNAMENT
• ****************************

For Larger Tournaments, this may be of help.

• INITIALIZE
• *************

FIRST - You must initialize the Tournament. For instance, if you were to run a 8:00pm you need to first initialize it.  You should see it initialize 5 rounds. That can accommodate up to 32 PLayas.

I could make if for more than 32, but I think it would be better to start a new one on the next hour. 32 people tourneys will probably take 2+ hours. I personally think 16 people is the sweet spot.

• ACTIVATE
• *************

Now that it is initialized, we can activate it. There is a LOT to look at. Don't be scared :)

 Leave your first one set to 4. Later do a 32 if you want :)

 NOTES:

1.  You can set the Amount of People, or PLaya Count. BUT, only in the FIRST Round. AND IF you select a number then drop down, you may lose information. So only add as you go, and leave it up there even if you would use less unless you know the system and know you won't lose anything.
2. Practice screwing up here :) It might screw things up Visually. No Big Deal. More on that later.

NOT ready for Prime time, but OK, SO Play around with it, but here's some things....

•  If you don't see the PLayas Name's Reset the list Or add them in the Quick Add and reset list.
• IF Java is working, Things will save automatically. For some who can't use the JavaScript you will have to use the Save Button. You will know if it works.

 "NOTES" - Notes are for whatever you want. You can use it to practice the pasting.

 The weird symbols are because the Table and Scores do not auto-update until you click anywhere else, but the weird things are to get in the habit of clicking something :)

 Sorry and Congrats are Cut and Paste. SO isn't the Table, but that's better used in coming up matches. These will become ONE button that does both soon. 

Sorry Opie and Fiona! Thanks for Playing! Message is not TD configurable (YET).

Once the Match is over, Do the Sorry or Congrats, then Move the WINNERS to the Next Round.

When down to 4 PLayas,  the ones you Move on are actually the WINNERS of the Tournament.

NOTE:  Find "Tournament Progress" in the TMS Menu and click on that, and find YOUR Tournament. This will allow others to follow.

• FINALIZE

Not done yet. You can see the Winners made it to the end in the "Tournament Progress", but we have yet to send the results to be saved forever. SO, click the 'F'.

 You NEED to have a WINNER, so double check the results and the PLayer Count, then Submit.

 The fix is if there is a problem. We go back to the last round and fix it.  We CAN NOT SUBMIT AGAIN because it is already in the Database, so we can only FIX IT (update).

It everything went well we should see the results in the Monthly Results as well as the addition in Player Points and if we go back to the "Tournament Progress" it should show completed.

 One other thing. When it goes MORE than one round, and you move people, you can put in the table number in the next round, THEN press "Table" and it will tell all 4 Playas where to go.

 You should now try a 32-player tournament. Initialize, run it and play with it all.

 You SHOULD be able to go back and forth at will Between running this Tournament, looking at results, Looking at Progress and back again...

ROUNDS are different colors, to try to make it less confusing.

WE could actually run Unlimited Tournaments at the same time.

 I have NOT set it up for double elimination yet or best 2 out of 3, but we can be creative :)
